As you’ll see below, there’s a myriad of things that our store takes care of, from seeds to fertilizers to gifts to you, our loyal customers.

While some of us are off in the greenhouse raising plants from seed to maturity or in the nursery giving you advice on where best to plant your new japanese maple, it’s these brave souls in the store that are handling the front lines, making sure you bid us farewell in a better mood than when you arrived.

Seeds + Bulbs

From the low-growing scotch moss to the mighty redwood, life for a plant starts on a very finite level in the form of a seed. This seed can either be planted naturally, being carried by the wind or an animal and dropped, or man can intervene with a plan in mind and plant it precisely where intended.

If it’s the latter that interests you, where annuals, perennials, vegetables and bulbs are concerned, we’ve got you covered. Our common and more conventional seeds are provided to us by  Cornucopia, and our line of non-GMO, heirloom and organic seed come to us from Renee’s Garden.

The bulbs that we carry, in both spring and fall, come to us from VanBloem Gardens. In the spring you’ll see our summer blooming bulbs such as cannas, dahlias, gladioli and lilies and in the fall we’ll carry our spring blooming bulbs like crocus, daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips. VanBloem also provides Grant Line with asparagus, potato, onion, garlic and rhubarb starts, ready and waiting to be a part of your vegetable garden!

Accents + Gifts

Not simply window dressing, garden accents are also useful design tools that can provide a focal point for the garden. For example, a long bed of plants of similar heights would be much more interesting if a tall vine-covered trellis was placed at the back or a planting bed past it’s prime could be revived by removing spent blossoms and setting a lush, colorful hanging basket on an iron shepherd’s hook above the foliage.

It isn’t even necessary to have a garden to enjoy the charms of garden ornaments and accents, for they can just as easily decorate a balcony or terrace or add interest indoors. As the holiday season approaches, don’t forget to splurge on yourself-or maybe drop a little holiday hint-as you picture stone cherubs nestled under the roses or a fountain trickling into your garden pond.

Additionally, while you may not be coming to a nursery and garden center with the intention of picking up a scarf or jar of locally made salsa, you might not be able to resist picking one up while you’re making your way to the exit!

The right tool for the right job is an understatement where Grant Line is concerned. We like to make sure that when it comes to gardening, we not only provide you with the perfect tool for the job, but we make sure that the product we carry is going to last.

From shovels to loppers, rakes to pruners, brands like Terra Verde, Ames, Truper, and Radius Garden are built to take a beating and last season after season. When it comes to hoses and hose accessories, such as sprinklers and watering wands, Gilmour and Dramm are our go to brands.

We want to make sure that you don’t have to worry about replacing your tools season after season and that if you do, it’s so far down the road that our grandchildren will be assisting you with the next one.

Sometimes your plant just isn’t doing as well as you’d like it to and you want to give it a little something to make it really shine. If this is the case, we’ve got just what you’re looking for! From flowers to veggies, trees to shrubs, we’ve got the right fertilizer for more color, bigger yield, faster growth and everything you may want out of your plant!

We carry everything from big brand names like Miracle-Gro, Jobe’s and Osmocote, to smaller but just as effective fertilizers from companies such as Bonide, Hi-Yield and Ironite. We even carry a line of organic fertilizers by Espoma and a very effective local fertilizer created by Monty’s, right across the river in Louisville!

And remember, if you don’t exactly know what your plant needs, let us know what’s going on and/or bring in a sample of your plant and we can figure it out for you!

The alterations we make to our landscape generally have two main functions: aesthetic and utilitarian. Either we want a lawn or garden that’s going to look pretty or we want to yield crops for consumption. The problem that each and every one of us face is how to go about keeping insects and animals from taking all of that away from us, not to mention weeds taking over.

For those of us that have the time, there are a few ways to rid ourselves of infestations without the use of any chemicals, such as natural predators and companion planting where insects are concerned, and time-consuming cover crop routines. For most of us, we don’t have the time or luxury for any of that and this is where some more simple and effective alternatives come in.

Where insects are concerned, we carry some big name products like Spectracide, Ortho and Sevin and smaller names such as Hi-Yield and Bonide. For those of you who want to use a more natural approach, we have a line of products by Pharm, a USDA certified organic company. If it’s pests on a larger scale you’re having issues with, such as deer, dogs or cats, the Liquid Fence products we carry should do the trick!

When it comes to weed control, whether it be garden or lawn, we have a few different products to choose from, depending on your brand of preference, such as herbicides like Weed-B-Gone and Bayer and all-around killers like Round Up.

If you’re a little leery about putting harsh chemicals in your landscape to get rid of weeds, we do offer a couple of alternatives. One way is to treat with an organic weed preventer specifically manufactured by Preen for your vegetable garden that goes on before the weeds show their face.

The second is that we can offer you a roll of weed barrier in 3 different sizes: 3×25. 3×50 and 3×100, all carrying a 15 year warranty through the manufacturer, Typar. This will serve not only as a weed barrier, but as a ground cover, keeping your soil wet longer, requiring less watering on your part.

So whether you’re battling aphids or Japanese beetles or you’ve got dandelions and crabgrass taking over your landscape, we’ve got you covered to make sure you no longer have to battle anything and your growing season goes as smooth as possible!

If you can’t seem to get enough of watching the local wildlife, why not attract them? We’ve got bird feeders, bird houses, and hummingbird feeders in all different shapes, sizes and designs and a squirrel feeder in case you want to feed them too! We’ve even got bat houses, which are the perfect animal for keeping the mosquito population in your area to a minimum and your garden pests under control!
